i read banned books

This weeks is Banned Books week- celebrating the freedom to read! (Because “closing books shuts out ideas”). Here are some ways to join the movement:

1. See if any books you’ve read or would like to read are on the American Library Association’s current list of banned and challenged books, found here.

2. Participate in the ALA’s Virtual Read-Out, a video collection of banned read-alouds, loud & proud (Take that!)

3. Visit your library to see if they have a special display for banned books and learn a bit about literary censorship while you’re at it.

4. Be a rebel. Go ahead and snag that restricted title, read it like you mean it, and revel relentlessly in the newfound adrenaline rush of literary abandon.
