october book club: marina

butterfly2

As it turns out, Marina was the perfect pick for October: we wanted creepy and it delivered. Marina had all the great Gothic elements and Carlos Ruiz Zafón is a great storyteller. I am definitely adding his other titles to my to-read pile.

After our discussion, we watched Pan’s Labyrinth, which paired well with the creepy theme. Plus, it also takes place in Spain and centers around a young girl caught in a labyrinthine tale.

Our next book club pick is The Baker’s Daughter by Sarah McCoy. (Shifting from creepy to cozy : )
