let’s review: the ocean at the end of the lane

15783514The Ocean at the End of the Lane is a great story to revisit. I thoroughly enjoyed reading/listening to Neil Gaiman’s magical tale the second time. (Original review found here).

Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane is the kind of story that pulls you under and dazzles you to the depths of every page. A tender tale of childhood and harsh realities swirled with dreamlike magic and so much else—an ocean in every word. Soaked in imaginative details and awash in atmosphere—this book is all kinds of dreamy/magical/wonderful and—(perhaps this had something to do with Mr. Gaiman’s swoony voice)–when it was over I found myself wishing to plunge in again.

P.S. Nerd alert: I actually read along with the book while listening to the audiobook. Sometimes I think this helps my visually-inclined self to take in all the details whilst still benefiting from hearing the author read his own story (in this case, major bonus points).
